Alison Whitty,
BA, MA, RP(Q)

Alison Whitty is a registered psychotherapist who is qualifying. She works with individuals and couples using emotionally focused therapy techniques and trauma based approaches to support people to understand their needs and feelings.
  • Alison is a mom, a spouse to a first responder, and a retired high-performance athlete and coach. These lived experiences shape how she shows up in her work—bringing a deep understanding of stress, transition, performance pressure, and the impact relationships have on our ability to show up as our best selves.

Alison supports individuals and couples navigating relational challenges, life stressors, and major transitions. She works collaboratively with clients to slow things down, build self-awareness, and create more secure, connected ways of relating—supporting greater clarity, confidence, and emotional balance.

Outside of work, Alison enjoys spending time with her family, staying active (especially near the water), reading, and traveling.

  • In person or virtual.

Alison is formally trained in Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) and draws primarily from attachment-based approaches, somatic awareness, and self-compassion practices.

She thoughtfully integrates elements of mindfulness, narrative exploration, cognitive (CBT), solution-focused (SFBT), and strengths-based therapies to help clients deepen emotional awareness, heal relational wounds, and cultivate a more compassionate relationship with themselves and with others.

Each session is tailored to the individual’s unique needs, goals, and pace.

  • Alison brings her unique athletic and coaching background into the therapy room, viewing the couple as the most important team in the family unit. She recognizes that when that team dynamic is healthy, it creates a ripple effect of stability and resilience that improves performance and brings ease to everyday life.

She specializes in supporting couples who feel emotionally disconnected, are stuck in painful loops of miscommunication, or are navigating high-stress lifestyles. Alison deeply understands the unique pressures of parenting, the toll that shift work and first responder roles can take on a relationship, and the impact of high-performance careers.

Formally trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT), Alison helps partners move beyond surface-level arguments to understand the patterns that keep them stuck. Whether you are rebuilding trust after betrayal or simply trying to find your way back to one another, she provides a non-judgmental space to process these emotions.

Her sessions are collaborative and goal-oriented, helping you build the skills needed to transform your relationship into a secure, resilient partnership.
